Miracles do happen and sometimes they happen in midair.
This one Airbus A320, which was carrying 121 passengers and six crew members experienced a great miracle.
Just 10 minutes after its takeoff from the Turkish city of Istanbul, the Airbus was severely hit by hailstones the size of eggs, which resulted in cracking of the windscreen and leaving a dent in the jet.
The nasty weather also caused the autopilot system of the Airbus to shut down, causing additional trouble for the pilot, who now had to land the jet completely blindfolded.
Amazingly, Captain Alexander Akopov managed to land the Airbus A320 at Ataturk Airport in Istanbul, saving the 121 passengers and the six crew members, in zero visibility.
For his heroic effort, Akopov was awarded the Ukrainian Order For Courage.
We salute such unsung heroes who give their best even in the most hostile conditions, thus inspiring us to give the best in what we do.
