Fibromyalgia is a serious condition which troubles millions around the world and some patients find it difficult to even perform everyday simple tasks.
However, a research conducted on this disease has some breakthrough information which might be helpful in finding the cure for the disease. The research found out that the cause of the pain did not originate from the brain like most of the people believed.
In fact it comes from the blood vessels in your hand. The researchers focused on the skin on the hand of a patient who had a lack of sensory nerve fibers which led to lowered pain response.
Neuroscientist Dr. Frank L. Rice explained: “ We previously thought that these nerve endings were only involved in the regulation of blood flow in a subconscious level, but now we have evidence that the ends of the blood vessels can also contribute to our conscious sense touch, and also the pain.”
