Couple Had Given Up After Looking For Their Wedding Ring For 9 Years. But They See Something Shine On A Side Walk

Things are not just they carry certain memories and emotions with them that make them special. Some of the most special object are wedding rings. Its meant to be kept for a lifetime but if its lost it can be heart-breaking.

That was the case for Justin and Margaret Mussel, who assumed their precious ring was gone for good when it went missing—only to have a stunning revelation nine years later.

When Justin proposed years ago, he went all-out with a dream engagement ring for his future wife: a white gold ring with a princess-cut diamond. The couple tied the knot in 2006.

Two years later, the now-married couple were vacationing in Italy, staying in a home in San Marco dei Cavoti owned by Margaret’s family.

Seeing the sights, the couple took a trip to Pompeii.

But it was a hot day, and Margaret’s ring was coming loose—and later on, Margaret looked at her hand and noticed the ring was missing.

“She didn’t realize it was gone until later,” Justin told USA Today. “She took a nap, and woke up and realized she didn’t have it on.”

The couple searched the house, but when they came up short, they accepted the likely reality:

The ring was gone for good, lost among the ruins.

Margaret was devastated.

“I felt terrible, and I knew I should have probably taken it off because I was a little bigger,” she told ABC7. “I just felt really bad that I could have prevented it from falling off, and I kept it on that day.”

To make things even worse, the couple found out their insurance wouldn’t even cover the loss.

“If it was lost on international soil, not on U.S. soil, it wouldn’t be covered,” Justin explained to USA Today.

Still, life goes on. Over the past nine years, the ring faded from memory, as Justin replaced the ring with a new one.

But then, this summer, the Mussels returned to Italy.

The couple decided to return to the house they stayed in nine years ago, this time with their two sons coming along. It was just a family vacation—they never expected a blast from the past.

Until Justin saw a glimmer.

“I kept saying to Margaret, ‘do you see that?’”

“I see this glimmer coming out of the sidewalk,” he recalled to ABC7.

Every time a car would pass by, something in the sidewalk crack would reflect the headlight. Could it really be…?

Justin knew it was unlikely, but had to be sure: he pried open the crack with a screwdriver—

And, somehow, there it was: the ring.

Justin immediately called over his disbelieving wife.

“I thought he was crazy,” she told USA Today. “I was like, ‘There’s no way the ring is in there.’ I couldn’t believe it. I thought he was playing a joke.”

Justin was equally shocked.

“I thought maybe it was a coin or something,” he told ABC7.

“Never in my wildest dreams did I think we’d ever actually find that ring again nine years later.”

The couple came to the conclusion that, back in 2008, the ring must’ve bounced into the crack stone-down and became covered in dirt. It was only the slight glimmer from the band that Justin noticed that revealed it.

And while it’s a little scuffed and dirty, it’s in relatively remarkable condition.

“If you saw it, you wouldn’t think it was in a crack for nine years,” Margaret told USA Today.

Margaret said that her new replacement ring wasn’t a total waste—it can hopefully be used down the line by one of her sons. But for now, she’s thrilled to be reunited with the original.

“I still can’t believe it,” she told USA Today.

“I just keep looking at my hands.”

I am very happy that I found this during my search for something concerning this.
