There are numerous criminal activities that can get you in trouble with the law. Among them, one of the worst offenses that definitely deserves jail time is child abuse.
According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, child protective services recorded 683,000 victims of child maltreatment in 2015, most being a young age.
Some of these cases involved child abuse and neglect of some sort, whether physical, emotional, or sexual.
Recently, an Oklahoma mom came home to a terrifying discovery. Bridgette Payne said everything seemed fine until she found her child in bed early.
The Miami Herald reported that Bridgette went on Facebook retelling the moment she nearly lost her mind after pulling her son, Ayrian, out of bed.
Not only his face was covered with bruise, but his body was covered in welts.
The young mom, initially, couldn’t understand what had happened to him. “I ran to him like any mother would do crying, hugging him, [begging] what happened,” she said.
The little boy, named Ayrian told his mom that her boyfriend, 25-year-old Wesley McCollum, “hurt me bad” before sending him off to bed.
McCollum said he wanted to teach the young boy a lesson for opening a Christmas gift without permission.
After hearing this, Bridgette had McCollum arrested and charged with child abuse and neglect. The situation came as an even bigger shock for the young mom, who was once the victim of domestic violence.
Bridgette never thought she would have to experience the same with McCollum.
She said, “I never EVER thought he would do this or I would of never been with him. Plain and simple.”
Both of them had only been together for 10 months prior to the incident.
Now that McCollum has revealed his true colors, Bridgette has lost all respect for him, as she rightfully should.
“For a grown man to punch a child over and over and slap him and beat him with a belt ALL over is no man at all,” she wrote. “He is the lowest scum on earth…”
Ayrian’s injuries has been treated at a local hospital. Although his Christmas started off on a bad note, we’re just happy he and his mom are now able to recover from this traumatizing situation.
