One of the consistent aspects of The Apprentice is a phone call in the early morning to tell the contestants that the cars will be picking them up in 10 to 20 minutes.
Some of them are still wearing pyjamas while others are caught halfway through exercise, and they all have to get themselves ready for a rough day almost instantly.
But it’s practically impossible to get yourself showered, a shirt ironed and your breakfast eaten within that time frame, and yet the next shot you’ll see is the contestants climbing into the black cars.
And here’s your clarification. Former contestant Karthik Nagesan has told the Mirror that reality TV isn’t always the same as reality: “So the cars will be there in 20 minutes… they may not leave in 20 minutes, they may leave two hours later. I’m not saying anything; just think about it,” he said.
But he added that it would perhaps be a bit unreasonable, and slightly boring, to see them go through their usual morning routine.
“Imagine if you had a set of TV crew noseying around, watching you do your hair, go to the toilet and brush your teeth. Are you not going to see five men or women standing around with cameras?” he said.
“Think about it. It keeps the illusion up and that’s what’s nice about the show.”
To be fair, the audience would undoubtedly get more enjoyment from watching Lord Sugar yelling at the contestants than seeing them getting ready.
But in a more shocking claim, the Big K doesn’t think Lord Sugar comes up with his own witty, comical jokes, saying: “I think there is a joke writer because his one liners are almost as funny as mine and that’s saying something. I’m guessing there must be someone in the background.
“When the task is finished and Lord Sugar has his debrief with his advisors, he has his time there.”
The Big K, who appeared on the reality TV show last year, says he applied for the programme after his wife convinced him he’d be good. He confessed that being on the BBC show was the chance of a lifetime and something he definitely hasn’t taken for granted.
Mr Nagesan appeared on this year’s Celebrity Big Brother house after Real Housewives of Cheshire star Dawn Ward pulled out.
In spite of people believing he’d ‘shake things up’, Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding won the competition.
