Honestly, it is just the lifestyle that the Japanese lead – it is their attitude towards foods that promote high energy levels and keep away the undesirable kilos.
It is a universal secret that eating healthy, exercising regularly, sleeping well and drinking water properly, helps to stay fit. In every culture, there are unique health tips that help people to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Likewise, in the Japanese culture, there are interesting healthy rules, which if followed, will help one stay slim, healthy and super fit!
Here are the Japanese tips:
#1. Don’t eat like a Sumo wrestler
Would you believe us that Sumo wrestlers don’t eat breakfast? Yes, they directly dig into their huge power lunches in the afternoons! But they don’t go back to training post lunch but sleep it out. Their routine consists of two huge meals and then sleeping through the day.
But why are we talking about Sumo wrestlers? Because we don’t to be one! Unlike them, we want to stay fit so the idea is to eat timely, exercise timely.
If one eats junk food or large portions, no amount of exercising will help! All your efforts will go down the drain. So, indulge in a balanced diet, exercise and sleep. Follow this pattern.
#2. Cook light
We make many mistakes when cooking food. We are mostly unaware of the oils that cause issues with our health or the temperature at which we expose the ingredients too. Using heart-friendly oils is the best method to implement. Raw meats should not be exposed to high temperatures for long durations and one should use different methods to cook – stir frying, grilling in the pan, steaming, sautéing and simmering the foods. Eating fresh foods with dressings is also a good option. The food should leave you feeling light yet satisfied.
#3. The life-giving warmth
As living beings, we need warmth or heat to survive. Similarly, our foods should supply us with energy to survive. Seasonal foods, therefore, fulfil this requirement. Summer foods help the body remain cool while winter foods, heavier than summer ones, provide enough heat to sustain comfortably. Eating fruits and raw vegetables forms a healthy diet but at times we need heavier, nutritious food to sustain too.
#4. Change your attitude
Changing your attitude towards food doesn’t mean going on a diet. Food should be eaten to be enjoyed. The Japanese do so and barely diet. They eat a wide variety of foods and make time for exercising. This is non-negotiable in their lifestyle. No wonder they live long & stay slim!
#5. No water with your meals
Drinking water while you eat food is actually terrible for your digestion! Water helps the body cool down and keeps us away from the warmth generated by the foods. It also neutralizes the acids in the stomach that help in digestion.
#6. Take long hot baths
Hot water has many benefits. A hot shower on a regular basis helps one relax, helps in the blood circulation, stay calm and feel free. Japanese have clear skin and better digestion thanks to a hot bath daily!
