A newborn baby girl was left abandoned at a bus stop with her umbilical cord still attached has been discovered, police continue to search for her mother.
The almost lifeless baby has been discovered by Daniel Braxton, 35, as he drove past and spotted her naked on the ground with her umbilical cord still attached.
Mr Braxton performed CPR on her and dialed 999 immediately after finding her and paramedics rushed her hospital.
The baby girl has spent a week in hospital and police have released a picture of her dressed in pink and white babygrow.
Police appealed for the mother to come forward by saying: ‘Your baby needs a name.’
The baby was found at the bus stop outside the Magpie and Stump pub in Towyn, North Wales at 7.15am last Tuesday.
Midwife Louise said: ‘We’d like mum to know that her daughter’s doing really well and is making good progress at Glan Clwyd Hospital.’
The baby was found by father-of-two Mr Braxton who said: ‘We blocked the road off and rang the emergency services
‘I had a dressing gown in the car and ran to grab that, wrapped the baby up, gave her some good hard rubs on the chest and the head.
‘To be honest, I think the fatherly instinct and the adrenaline kicked in because my daughter was hysterical and my partner was hysterical.
‘So it was just a case of as soon as I saw her lying there, her naked little body just left on cold concrete, I knew something had to be done.’
North Wales Police released a picture of the child in a bid to trace the mum.
Helen Douglas for North Wales Police said: ‘At about 07:15 hours a new born baby girl was found in a bus shelter by the Magpie and Stump public house in Towyn, Conwy.
‘We want mum to know that she is currently being cared for and treated in Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.
‘We are concerned about the health of the mother of the baby girl and are appealing for her to come forward by contacting me.
‘Likewise if you are a concerned friend, relative or neighbour of the mother you can also contact me on the same number.’
Police forensic teams had sealed off the area around the bus stop and a helicopter was seen flying over the area this morning.
The baby was taken to the Ysbyty Glan Clwyd hospital by paramedics and her condition is unknown.
A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: ‘We were called at approximately 7.20am this morning by our colleagues at North Wales Police to Towyn Road, Towyn.
‘We sent a crew in an emergency ambulance and a paramedic in a rapid response vehicle.’
