Netizen's Shares Her Story About Having Scoliosis That Will Inspire Other People With Such Condition

Scoliosis is a medical condition in which a person’s spine has a sideways curve.[2] The curve is usually “S”- or “C”-shaped. In some the degree of curve is stable, while in others it increases over time. Mild scoliosis does not typically cause problems, while severe cases can interfere with breathing. Pain is typically not present.

According to Web MD, it is basically caused by the following: Having cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, birth defects, infections, tumors, or genetic conditions like the Marfan syndrome and Down syndrome.

The other reasons are having a longer leg than the other, experiencing muscle spasms, and inflammation like appendicitis. The source cited that when these conditions are treated, scoliosis generally goes away.

A netizen shared her experience with the condition and added that people would always say that she is so thin – it appeared as though she doesn’t eat.

The netizen, Patrisha Banawa’s status has recently gained 4.9 thousand likes as of this writing. Even other netizens shared her post in their respective timelines for 2,680 times. Some even tagged their friends in the comments section and indicated that they should read Patrisha’s story.

In the post she mentioned that she loves to eat food. She likes to eat food very much but unfortunately, it doesn’t show on her body. This was because she has scoliosis. In 2013, she found that she had the condition.

Her condition didn’t restrict her from entering a pageant in 2014. She said that she aspired to be a beauty queen so she joined the pageant without thinking about her condition. It is to be noted that in pageants, one is supposed to stand as tall and as straight as possible.

She passed all of that and won as the first runner-up in the competition. She also added that despite what people are thinking, scoliosis may be painful for the person afflicted. She mentioned that there were times she couldn’t stand for a long periods.

Patrisha also claimed that she would have uncomfortable sensations from her internal organs. She described them as “namimilipit,” an extremely painful feeling in which her organs seemingly curl themselves up.  She also faces breathing problems since her lungs are affected by the condition as well.

Going through so much of pain, she is happy in life and urged everyone with scoliosis to look after themselves. According to her status, they should not carry heavy or loaded objects behind their back and if possible, go wear a brace to support their spine.
