3 Shabby Men Ask Waitress Odd Questions, Then She Looks At Receipt & Turns White As Snow

The holidays can be a tiresome time for people who have to work hard in order to pay the bills. Sadly, this year Trisha Murphy found herself deeper in the hole after a tow truck made off with her car and left a $735 seize fee in its place. Unfortunately, that meant shopping for gifts for her kids would have to be put on hold.

The poor mom didn’t know what she was going to do. It was a week before Christmas, and she definitely wasn’t feeling very cheery. Trisha racked her brain and tried to figure out how she was going to get her car back so that she didn’t have to rely on others to get to work.

As a waitress at Denny’s, she figured that she could pick up a few extra shifts to help her out. However, when three grungy-looking men sat her table, her heart dropped. They looked like average tippers, and Trisha knew that she had a long road ahead of her if she was ever going to make ends meet.

Like many moms Trisha’s main priority is making sure her kids are happy. But, without transportation, she couldn’t even get her kids to school. If she picked up odd jobs to earn extra cash, that would mean she would have to shell out even more money to pay for a sitter. On Facebook, Trisha said:

“I couldn’t even concentrate at work. Regardless, I painted on a smile and acted like it was just another day. Work was terribly dead and I thought for sure, I was screwed! I got this table, 3 men. They all looked a little grungy and judging by their demeanor, I figured a average tip.”

The oldest of the three-kept annoying Trisha about how she was going to celebrate Christmas. She told him that she celebrates it for her kids, but apart from that, she doesn’t really get into it much. When he joked that he would come over and be Santa, Trisha led him to believe that she was married, which is what many young waitresses do!

Of course, that didn’t mean that Trisha was being unfriendly! She kept up the pleasant, but safely distant, conversation until the fellas were ready to check out. However, the Santa wannabe insisted that Trisha personally cash him out. This was quite unusual, because usually the hostess at the front of the restaurant is supposed to take care of it.

“He insisted I go to the register and cash him out. I thought it a little odd, but obliged anyway. When he put his card in, he had a huge, ear to ear, smile. The receipt printed and I almost collapsed!

One look was all it took for her to break down in tears. Trisha stared at the grungy-looking man, and her face turned white as snow. She couldn’t believe it – Santa Claus was actually real!

The man smiled and wished Trisha a Merry Christmas, and then he almost danced out of the restaurant. However, he did take a quick peek back inside to check up on the surprised mom who made his “nice” list.

“He came back in to make sure I didn’t have a heart attack. I still might! I don’t know this man’s name, but I hope he realizes that he literally saved Christmas for my children and I!”

Trisha discovered first-hand that good people still exist. Even though she was never very much into celebrating Christmas, she’ll never forget the day she met a real-life Santa. Trisha ended up using the generous $500 tip to get her car back so that she could get her kids to school and buy them presents. From now on, “grungy” will probably take on a whole new meaning for her.
