Former Lovers Stick To Their Word Of Getting Married To Each Other If They Are Single At 50

Everything looks possible and achievable when people are young and they talk about crazy stuff. But, life isn’t that easy and takes its own route and gradually makes us understand that it is not how you think.

However, for this couple they fulfilled their promise which was made when they were young. The pair decided to go their own way in their youth, but destiny brought them back together after many years and they tied the knot.

Ron Palmer and Kimberley Dean were high school sweet-hearts 37 years ago. He was a senior and she was a freshman. They fell in love, but unfortunately had to end their fairy-tale as the schooling was done.

Ron, who is now 54 said: “We dated most of my senior year, and we broke up but remained friends. I wanted to go sow my oats, so to speak, and I was honest with her. I decided to go have my fun, and I thought girls were dime a dozen. But I never developed as good as a relationship with anyone else as I had with her.”

Interestingly, they got married and both the marriages did not work out. Ron’s marriage lasted for seven years while Kimberley’s blessed her with two children, Kayla and Konner, before she got divorce in 1998. The two stayed in touch through all this.

Kimberley said: “We’re very comfortable around each other. We do the complete the sentences and laugh at each other’s stupid jokes kind of thing. We’re kind of like a yin and a yang.”

Ron added: “I’d either get a letter or a phone call every once in a while. When I was dating other girls and having issues, I would call her and she would help me through those times.

“It was a super good friendship, and it went back and forth like that for a long time.”

The two jokingly said when they were in their 30’s, that they would marry each other if they’re still single by the time they reach 50.

She said: “It was like a lightbulb went off. And I told him, ‘Do you remember this stupid pact we made?”’

They knew it would take a serious turn from there. Ron explained: “She asked if we should try it again. I told her, you know, we’re risking a real incredible friendship, because if it doesn’t work this time, I don’t know how we could still remain friends.”

Though he had apprehensions, Ron admitted: “I did hesitate when she asked me, but I could see we still had feelings for each other.

“And it’s been fantastic ever since.”

Ron proposed on the New Year’s Eve in 2017 and they got married in June 2018.

“It started out as just a complete random joke and never in a million years did we both think we would have ended up in the same place at the right time,” reflected Kimberley.

“Because I mean, we’ve been in different relationships, and now here we are!”

  1. Its like you read my mind! You appear to grasp so much
about this, such as you wrote the ebook in it or
something. I think that you simply could do with some p.c.
to pressure the message home a little bit,
but instead of that, that is excellent blog.

An excellent read. I’ll definitely be back.
