Texas woman named Ashley Cecilia Castaneda, hid a fully loaded pistol inside her vagina during an arrest on drug charges has been handed probation.
She was initially stopped by police for a traffic violation, but when cops searched the car the found 2.7 grams of meth under the driver’s seat. The 33-year-old was being escorted into a Waco jail when police said she confessed to smuggling the weapon.
A cavity search recovered a .22 caliber semi-automatic Smith and Wesson pistol, according to police.
They also recovered drugs in her bra and purse, as well as a set of digital weighing scales.
Castaneda is sentenced to 10 years of probation after pleading guilty to methamphetamine possession. The 33-year-old Waco woman was also fined $2,500.
Seth Sutton, her attorney, completely denied the story stating it as impossible in court, and argued that claim had caused his client more ’emotional pain’ than the felony charges against her ever could, the Waco Tribune reports.
‘The ridiculous narrative circulated, first by police, and then by the media, that Ms. Castaneda somehow concealed a gun inside her vagina is and has always been completely false,’ Sutton said. ‘It’s not possible.’
‘It was a safety concern for the victim, who had a loaded firearm inside her body,’ Waco Police Sgt. Patrick Swanton said at the time of the arrest. ‘Depending on a number of factors, that gun could have gone off by body movements or compression of the trigger.
He added that Sutton was ‘sadly mistaken’ if he did not believe the extraordinary lengths they went to hide guns and drugs.
Gabriel Garcia, who was in the car with Castaneda when she was arrested, pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine and is sentenced to two years in prison.
