‘Adult Swaddling’ Is Seemingly A Thing Now And People Are Really Using It To De-Stress

When babies are just born their parents are often counseled to try wrapping them. This practice of firmly wrapping up an infant in a blanket helps them get better rest and can even help them develop physically.

Now it turns out that wrapping isn’t just good for infants, adults could also seriously benefit from the practice. That is, if one woman in Japan is correct…

Japanese midwife Nobuko Watanabe is piloting a new health craze in Japan. It might look a little bit unusual but when you hear what it does you might want to fly to Kyoto and try it out for yourself!

The practice is called Otonamaki (adult wrapping) and Nobuko swears that it is the cure for almost any ailment. In the way that swaddling an infant can help with their physical development, there are also benefits to swaddling adults.

The sessions each last about 20 minutes and cost $30. They are supposed to help you manage joint pain, improve flexibility and make for better posture. It’s a trend that looks odd but it’s really catching on!

The practice is only a year old, but it’s developing quite the following. That said, there have been no studies done yet to confirm whether or not this practice is actually helpful. Some doctors even believe it could be harmful in the long term.

For now, the jury is still out and while they are, you should take advantage of this time to enjoy some adult swaddling for yourself if you think that’s something that could be useful for you or someone you love.

Being tied up in literal knots by strangers might not be something everyone out there wants to try, but if it works for those who love it, what’s the harm? Would you ever give this a try?
